ADOPT A SOLDIER

The zoo is celebrating Armed Forces Day by accepting donations for soldiers in Iraq. Donations of toiletries, snacks, stationary, recreation/entertainment items and most important, letters of encouragement will be accepted. Please call the Zoo, or see the Zoo’s website, for a complete list of supplies for soldiers.
Free with regular Zoo admission
$1.00 will be taken off price of admission if making a donation and visiting the zoo.
Drop-off items will also be accepted.

SHEAR MADNESS

Spring is here – our sheeps’ wool must disappear! It is sheep shearing time again.
Mr. Peter Sepe, a professional sheep shearer, will once again shear the wool from our flock. The Staten Island Hand spinners and Weavers will demonstrate how the wool is spun into yarn used to weave or knit scarves, hats and sweaters. Get your own “shear” while you’re here from a professional stylist! Bring the entire family and enjoy!
Demonstrations are free with regular Zoo admission.
Haircuts are $10.00 per person (all proceeds benefit the Zoo)

SPACE FARMS ZOO DAY TRIP

Join us on a trip to New Jersey’s largest combined zoo and museum. The 75-year-old zoo spans 450 acres. The zoo and museum occupy 100 acres and the rest is used to support the zoo’s inhabitants and to grow crops to feed many of their 500 animals. The museum has 50 antique cars, an early American tool collection, over 500 dolls and teddy bears, antique wagons and sleighs, and the second-largest collection of antique firearms in the US.

Pumpkin Carving

Join the Staten Island Zoo for the fifth annual “Dickens of a Christmas”. This holiday celebration is reminiscent of Christmases long, long ago. Meet Santa, sing along with a chorus, light our Christmas tree, and say hello to reindeer. Take the chill out of the air with a complimentary cup of hot cocoa and brownie per ticket purchased. There will be free crafts for the children and a marshmallow roast for all. This event is sure to get you in the holiday mood!
