Donate to the Staten Island Zoo

Developed in 1936, the Staten Island Zoological Society’s core mission of education is important to current and future human societies. More than just a destination where adults and children can view, appreciate and understand wildlife, the Staten Island Zoo is dedicated to creating an environment for the study or management, protection and restoration of threatened species, ecological communities, habitats, and ecosystems, whether they are local or on the other side of the globe.

Funded in part by the City of New York through its Department of Cultural Affairs with support from the Staten Island delegation to the City Council and the Office of the Staten Island Borough President, the Staten Island Zoo also receives support from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

However, more than 65 percent of its operating budget is generated by the initiatives of the Zoo – including admissions, active educational programs, special events … and donations large and small.

With more than 1,500 animals in our care, the costs of feeding, maintaining enrichment and health, and funding interpretation of their species – the core of our mission – increases yearly.

Perhaps unlike many cultural and educational organizations, a donation of any size to the zoo is immediately visible in the care provided to each of our animals.

IF YOU PREFER TO MAIL A CHECK WITH YOUR DONATION, make your check payable to the Staten Island Zoological Society, and mail to:
Staten Island Zoo, 614 Broadway, Staten Island, NY 10310.

We encourage donations and acknowledge each with our message of appreciation. If you desire your donation to accomplish a special or personal goal (a tribute or memorial, support for a selected exhibit, for examples), contact our Development Office at 718-442-6868 to discuss those opportunities.

The Staten Island Zoological Society is a 501c(3) corporation and your donation is tax deductible.
